RATING GUIDE

Gay customers, their partners, and their families, do not expect nor seek special attention. They do, however, wish to spend their dollars with businesses and service providers who are committed to equality and non-discrimination. All businesses are asked to affirm "We believe that inclusion and respect for all is the best way to do business and to serve loyal customers".

Buycott is the positive expression of supporting those who support diversity and fairness in the workplace. We encourage you to spend your hard earned dollars positively in support of change. If you don't find your favorite merchants listed, please refer them.

We encourage you to support business that are working to be more inclusive, Yellow (good to better) and Green (better to best). Through the rating process we will recognize companies that have achieved excellence, or identify areas that a company can improve, working with them to educate them about inclusive diversity issues. Businesses will be reevaluated once a year in July, and adjusted accordingly, with the hope that each companies performance and rating will improve.

The Diversity Score Process

All business are asked to complete the "Rating Guide Questionnaire," This information along with community input is evaluated by our advisory board using a scoring process that is as objective as possible. Views and actions expressed, both public and private, by company officers, pricipals (owners and investors), is taken in to consideration when reviewing the companies scores.

0 to 45 points, all businesses are asked to affirm "We believe that inclusion and respect for all is the best way to do business and to serve loyal customers". With respect to diversity and equality, is this business a good corporate citizen.

0 to 20 points, employee non-discrimination policy. If the policy includes sexual orientation or gender identity, 10 points. If it includes both 20 points.

0 to 15 points, partners of opposite and same sex couples treated equality with respect to company employee benefits.

-20 to 20 points, public participation in community activities and political activism with respect to diversity and equality. To receive a maximum score the activities must include both LGBT and non-LGBT issues. true equality will only occur when all individual are treated fairly and equally.

How to refer a Business

Referring a business or Organization is very easy. Click the referral button to the left and fill out the form. If you're a business owner and want to refer your business, please review "How to Submit a Directory Listing for Your Business"

Please include as much contact information about the business as possible . You are encouraged to add your personal comments about the business. Business's that are favorably recommended will be added to the guide immediately as "currently in the review process and expected to receive a favorable score."

Will the business I refer be charged for the listing? A basic listing in the directory is free. If the business wishes to expand on the basic listing and add Photos, logos and links they will be asked to contribute $100 per year to the operation of this website. At this time the contribution is optional. It is our intent to never charge for non-business community listings.

About your Organization's listing

There are two steps necessary to complete a listing in the directory. Complete the "Rating Guide Questionnaire" and submit the listing information, detailed steps follow.

Will I be charged for the listing? A basic listing in the directory is always free. If you wish to expand on the basic listing, adding photos, logos and interactive email and website links you're asked to contribute $100 per year to the operation of this website and your diversity score must exceed 64. At this time the contribution is optional. It is our intent to never charge for non-business community listings. To submit a listing, go to the home page and click on "Business Directory". You will be directed to the "Directory" page click on "Submit Listing" and complete the form.

You may include photos along with text in your listing. Use an image hosting service like photobucket.com and add the photo as desired (just like on facebook or myspace). If you would like us to add the photo for you, note (photo ImageName.jpg) photo and the name of the image in the text area. Then attach the image to an email and send it to photo@glc4me.com , we will do the rest. Please check the categories you would like your listing placed under. If we do not have the category you desire please make a note in the "Message for Administrator" box.

If you need to change or edit an existing listing, submit it as a new listing. Note that this listing replaces an existing listing in the "Message for Administrator" box.

Rating Guide Questionare

The "Rating Guide Questionare" determines your "Diversity Score" To complete the questionair click on the "Questionaire" button to the left.

Businesses will be assigned under review for 45 days or until their questionare is returned.

Through the rating process we will recognize companies that have achieved excellence, or identify areas that a company can improve, working with them to educate them about inclusive diversity issues. Businesses will be reevaluated once a year in July, and adjusted accordingly, with the hope that each companies performance and rating will improve. This form is not optional, listings that fail to complete the questionaire will receive an unforvable diversity rating in the directory.

Ultimately our goal is awareness and education, resulting in equality and justice.

Your comments about the directory and its listings are always welcome. We endeavor to be a accurate as possible. However much of the information we review comes directly from the business, they are naturally biased in their favor. All businesses are asked to affirm "We believe that inclusion and respect for all is the best way to do business and to serve loyal customers". Are they exceeding or falling short of this pledge. Your comments are critically important, you are our eyes and ears in the real world helping us to see things more objectively.

All comments will be forwarded to our advisory board for consideration. To be fair to all comments that are critical of business or organizations in the directory must include a full name and phone number. We may contact you via email or phone to clarify any questions we may have. You comments may also be discussed with the business or organization you have commented on. These discussions may include identifying you by name, however your contact information will not be shared with anyone outside of our advisory board without your advance consent.
